We have recently returned from a fabulous week in Andalucia which is the gateway to Africa for migratory birds, many of them using the winds and thermals as assistance on their journey. Persistent westerly winds meant that the numbers of birds were not as high as usual but the variery was nonetheless very impressive with 18 species of raptor. This included Ruppell's Vulture of which very small numbers can be seen amongst the Griffons and a 3rd calendar year Lanner. We also enjoyed some nice low-level birds through the week.
